The girl across from you.
I am a lot of things before I am a therapist. I am a wife, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, and dog mom.
I earned my bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies from the University of Northern Iowa and my Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Friends University, a COAMFTE-accredited program in Kansas City.
In between those two degrees, I spent five years in Nashville working in advertising. And you might be wondering how I went from advertising to marriage and family therapy. Well, the answer is actually pretty simple:
My own therapy altered the course of my life.
I know what it’s like to feel scared by your own feelings. To wonder and worry about whether you will feel this way forever. To feel anxious about what comes next. Therapy helped me make sense of my experiences and ultimately changed the way I understood myself, my relationships, and, in turn, the direction I wanted my life to take.
That experience shaped the kind of therapist I am always striving to be.
A warm, genuine presence. Someone who leads with curiosity, values honesty, and makes room for a bit of humor too. I will challenge you with compassion, while still being someone steady to sit with when things feel messy.
I want therapy with me to be a place where you can be completely yourself, in all your forms. A place to bring a voice to what might only be felt inside, understand the experiences and relationships that have made you who you are, and explore what happens between you and the people you care about.
Outside of the office, you'll usually find me reading, baking, walking my dog, or spending time with the people I love.
